Friends,
Our hearts are with every family affected by recent federal enforcement actions in our community. The safety and well-being of our children must always come first, and we stand in solidarity with all those impacted.
That said, we are deeply concerned by how LAUSD is responding.
Today at 11:00 AM, the district abruptly canceled tonight’s in-person Town Hall for Broadway parents, citing these events as the reason. This last-minute shift to an online-only format feels less like a genuine safety measure and more like a tactic to avoid public accountability.
By eliminating the in-person option entirely, LAUSD is using a serious community issue to sidestep direct engagement. This undermines public trust and violates the spirit of open meeting laws like the Brown Act, which protects our right to participate in government decisions.

Our Demands for LAUSD:
We are calling on the district to take immediate action:
- Reinstate the In-Person Town Hall: Offer a hybrid option or schedule an additional online session to accommodate everyone.
- Issue a Public Apology: Acknowledge the disservice to parents and community members who were prepared to show up in person.
- Provide an Explanation: Detail why a hybrid model wasn’t implemented from the start.
