Lactation is a crucial topic that focuses on breastfeeding and the support needed for nursing mothers. It highlights the importance of lactation rooms, breastfeeding-friendly workplaces, and access to lactation consultants. Petitions often call for paid maternity leave to allow mothers to breastfeed their children without financial hardship. Another common theme is destigmatizing public breastfeeding to create a more supportive environment for nursing mothers. One notable petition with thousands of signatures advocates for workplace policies that accommodate breastfeeding mothers, emphasizing the need for pumping breaks and private lactation spaces. By exploring these petitions and taking action, you can contribute to creating a more breastfeeding-friendly society for mothers and their infants. Join the movement to support lactation and empower nursing mothers everywhere.
I’m not pregnant and have not had a baby yet but I have learned so much through this account and feel so excited to know there are more options than just hospital birth. I thought the only way to birth was with an epidural. I was never taught any of this. I thought the only position you could give birth in was on your back. I’m 25 years old now and have learned so much because of access to this knowledge and imagery. It is not sexual, it is not explicit, it is the most natural thing in the world and hiding this info places shame on it. Make it accessible. Have it pop up on someone’s feed so one day it’s normal and not taking anyone by surprise.
I care about this issue because this account shows us what doctors in big hospitals won’t tell us about birth and our birthing options. We don’t always need a hospital birth for a safe and effective delivery!
