In a time where millions are struggling to get by, paid parental leave is the bare minimum a company making billions can provide

As a women and broke college student, if I knew I could get a pad or tampon from the bathroom when I need, it would be such a relief.

My name is Kamaya Jackson, and this petition is crucial as it recognizes the importance of keeping a mother and her children together, which is essential for both parties' emotional and psychological well-being. This connection is particularly significant within the Black community, where historical and systemic challenges have often disrupted family structures. This petition will ensure that Guidance can remain with her child and help foster a supportive environment vital for mental health. By supporting this petition, I and others are advocating for preserving these family bonds and acknowledging Black families' unique cultural and emotional needs, advocating for Guidance's youngest child to be in an environment that will promote a healthier and more resilient community, which he currently lacks. I think his wish to be “free” should be fulfilled. An 8-year-old should not have to fear separation from his parents, especially his mother and brother. I want to help and make a difference in any way possible.

I delivered all 6 of my children at Copley Birthing Center. Two of my pregnancies required inductions due to serious complications at the time. Not only was the birthing center staff up to the task, I was truly cared for medically and personally. They took the utmost consideration in how to address mine and my babies needs. They listened to my concerns, and trusted me to know my own body as well. Autonomy and clear communication during the birthing experience are invaluable. Many of the nurses and midwives were (and still are) trusted friends from years of living in this community. That comfort and familiarity, in a time that is so vulnerable for a woman, means more than I can say. I know mine is not the only story like this. Marj Kelso, Jackie Bromley, Kipp Bovie, Ellen Bouchard, Sarah Omotoso, Regina Foy, Wendy Andres, and many, many others have been instrumental in making the birthing center place of safety, comfort, and the truest kind of medical care. The birthing center is an environment that is unlike any labor and delivery department you’ll find in the state. To lose it would mean we lose a gem in this community. We lose a space for women and babies to have a beautiful, nurturing birthing experience. Please reconsider closing its doors for the sake of Lamoille County and our surrounding communities. Thank you.

Critical access hospitals like Copley are indeed critical to the rural populations they serve. Without the essential care of the birthing center the birthing mothers of our community are placed in unnecessary peril by being forced to travel outside of their communities to tertiary care centers or become victims of spurious crisis pregnancy centers. Increased travel to birthing care and deliveries in the ED will negatively impact the survival and wellbeing of mother and child. Copley Hospital has an amazing team of nurses, APRNs , and physicians who have spent the entirety their professional lives becoming expert practitioners in the care of mother and child. To close the birthing center would be catastrophic for the wellbeing of our community. Please, Copley executive leadership, don't screw this up.

I had all three of my babies there! I wouldn’t wanna go to any other birthing center than Copley hospital. I had 2 vaginal births n one emergency C-section and all three I couldn’t of done with the birthing team nurses and the C-section drs! We need Copley birthing center!

As a retired midwife, I recognize the huge importance of a safe, comfortable place for a mother and family to welcome their child. Please find other ways to cut costs. A birthing center is too impactful to lose.

I had one birth at Copley and it was an amazing experience. Though, if I had to have driven to another hospital, my baby would’ve been born in the car. I am hoping to be able to have my future children there as well. Closing the birthing center would be such a loss for our community.
