La Mesa is a topic that holds significant importance in many communities as a place of gathering and public interaction. Recent events have highlighted the need for accountability and transparency in law enforcement practices, as seen in petitions calling for justice for victims of police brutality and demanding police reform. La Mesa petitions often focus on issues such as racial injustice, police accountability, and community empowerment.
One notable petition with thousands of signatures calls for the prosecution of officers involved in the violent arrest of a Black man in La Mesa, highlighting systemic racism and police violence. I have lived and raised my children in this quiet, family oriented neighborhood filled with supportive members for 58 years. The addition of a 73 three-story high condos onto a 3½ acre plot of land with only a one lane, one way "street" through the complex which has only one entrance and one near by exit onto our neighborhood surface streets will cause negative changes and problems. The zoning change proposed from R-1 to R-3 is incompatible with our single family area which the condo owners would exit into with 79 single family homes already placed on the 3½ blocks of only heading north surface streets. The only other option to exit is east one block down steep Jericho Road to Amaya Drive, which is a one lane each direction street past our neighborhood. Amaya is NOT a "major artery" through our area. The 2-lane surface streets through our area combined with the one lane "street" through the condo complex will have the problems of Police, Ambulance, or Fire Vehicles driving into and out of the area and the additional concern of doubling the number of residents in our area having to evacuate our neighborhood in the event of an emergency. This could be castrophic for our neighborhood and makes this area inappropriate for the proposed building project. Perhaps the plan would work well in a less congested area exiting on to a large traffic artery or the project on Jericho could be redeveloped into a much less dense community or single family homes like the rest of the neighborhood. Thank you for your consideration.
My name is Kenny Niedermeyer and I live in the vicinity of the planned Jericho Road residential Project. Our neighborhood and the infrastructure herein is already pushed to the limit by near by schools and churches. This construction does nothing to combat the extra traffic that will congest the area. Please, cancel this development.
This development doesn't fit my neighborhood. The addition of 73 three story unites will cause a lot of traffic and impact the safety of my kids riding their bikes to school at Northmont.
