Victories in Kentucky

I experienced multiple forms of sexual assault and abuse as a child under eighteen, and have been assaulted multiple times as a young adult. These crimes are horrendous and destroy lives. These horrible people must be punished to the fullest extent of the law, to insure justice for victims and to make sure they don't ever violate another human being, especially a child, ever again.
Dakota supported: Increase Minimum Sentencing Guidelines for Child Sexual Assault Crimes in Kentucky
This is important - especially in terms of supporting accessibility. However, I do think it is sad that some may use this option because they are afraid to attend a municipal meeting - the fear to participate because of threatening behavior is not freedom. That is terrorism, and it is sad to see it impacting the freedom of a democratic political institution. As a community, we need to stand up to this and assert the right of all citizens to safety as active members in their own communities! I value everyone's right to safely engage in the political process.

I just want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Owen. They saved my life when I was down and out and without them I don't know where I'd be today. I'm proud to sign this petition.

As someone who is disabled, an POC, and female, and has been unfairly denied accommodations too many times, I know too much what a situation like this is like. I believe that even if it’s obvious (you wear braces, walk with a limp, or use a wheelchair), some people just look at you, and the color of your skin and turn you down, thinking you’re “faking” it. It’s disgusting and needs to stop! I would be one that could only attend a percentage of the meetings due to transportation issues (mainly restricted to the bus), not being able to out in certain types of weather, medical condition flares, and other restrictions related to my medical issues.) Unfair accommodations such as this, and retaliation on top of it, are causing us to grow more and more apart. And that’s not how it should be.

I have two children on the spectrum and I am terrified that she would be harmed because she is aggressive. Kids who are aggressive on the spectrum tend to be more abused than those who are not .

Making Election Day a federal holiday in the United States could increase voter turnout by providing citizens with more time to vote without work conflicts. In the 2020 election, 13.1% of registered voters who didn’t vote cited being too busy or having scheduling conflicts as the reason. Additionally, such a holiday would celebrate democracy, turning voting into a nationwide event. This approach aligns with practices in other countries and has significant public support; a Pew Research Center survey found that nearly 80% of Democrats and nearly 70% of Republicans favor making Election Day a federal holiday.

Many teenagers, like myself, are politically educated and want a say in who rules our country. If the voting age is lowered, it means that younger voices would be heard, it would promote more voting, and possibly encourage more teens to educate themselves politically to prepare. Sixteen year olds should be allowed to vote and stand for what they believe in.
Lillis supported: Lower the National voting age to 16 in the United States
The amount of abuse and neglect that I saw when living there was ridiculous! Disgusting to think, even after the law changes, that nothing has changed there. Please make a statement showing that you do not stand for this is your beautiful city!
