My family has spent many years and much money to be recognized as Italian citizens. We were very close to filing before this nightmare began. Our great grandparents left Southern Italy for better opportunities in Philadelphia. They had no choice but to give up their Italian citizenship. They sent money back to Italy and gave Italian heritage to their children and grandchildren. We want to return to Italy to honor them.
When I first chose Italian on my course selection, it was for nothing more than to check off graduation requirements. However, spending these 3 years being taught by Prof has been the most fun experience of high school, and I am genuinely excited to learn even more about Italy and its culture. We can’t let the admins rob us of such a special experience!
I worked in Fairfax city for over 20 years. Have a bite was always my go to when I went out for lunch. In fact, it's my favorite restaurant in the northern Virginia area. I absolutely love it and even though I don't work in Fairfax city anymore, I still go to have a bite. They want so badly and deserve to stay in Fairfax city. They have more than proven that they are a loyal business to Fairfax city and have given back to the community.
With his own small business around the corner, my dad made Havabite a famiy pillar in Old Town Fairfax. I grew up eating their burgers and Greek specialties whenever I was at his shop, with the owners posting my drawings on the walls amongst those from other kids who came through. As I got older, I'd bring friends for a meal and eventually my own family.
I cannot imagine Fairfax without Havabite -- not just because the food is great, but the establishment is enmeshed in the community and the community in it.

I have grown up in the City of Fairfax and have been a regular customer at Havabite since I was a child. Please allow it to remain a part of our Old Town
This was my very first job as a teenager - the original family that owned the restaurant were the best - a true family. Have a Bite always had its regular customers and is a big supporter of GMU. I would hate to see them go - I have moved out of the city after moving there in 1976 and still stop by for some awesome food whenever I can. It is a shame that TT Reynolds is not there and having new places is nice but we need to preserve the GREAT old places as well. We have plenty of new in Fairfax City - follow the old some - Make new friends but keep the old!!!! The old establishments mean so much to us - we now take our kids there. So many GREAT memories.
Mayor Reid, please do what you can to protect our local businesses and don’t let greed over take our community. Havabite eatery is comfort, it’s delicious, fresh and it’s one of the corner stones of this community. As I’ve lived here, it’s been the best spot on a summer evening, or a fall afternoon with some soup.
