Stop procrastinating on this issue for DECADES indigenous women have been abused. What if it was YOUR daughter sister cousin!!! Just think about that a moment your loved one is missing and no one helps you
Native American people matter so very much to me. Their cultures, their ways of life, their history. The way that they have been mistreated is pure evil, sick and disgusting. I am part Cherokee and Chippewa at least this is our guess because the truth has been hidden in this country and so many native people have had their cultures, languages, beliefs and their spirits taken away. It’s disgusting that natives have been and still are treated like they are trash!!!! I am furious about the injustice, abuse and evil genocide done to these beautiful and amazing indigenous people not only in the USA but in other countries as well. It’s past time for a change!!!!
Even though I'm not an Akatsuki or Ibuki producer, I feel so strongly about the recent issues and I feel for everyone impacted. I also am very passionate about the many other things they have done as of late- namely matrix as many others have mentioned, but their racism in many other stories as well as transphobia is extremely apparent and needs to be resolved.
The fact that cultural assimilation is being displayed as a positive is incredibly heartbreaking.
Even though I love this franchise immensely, I am tired of Happyele's actions and will not be supporting them financially or otherwise until changes are made, and I hope others do the same- I deleted enstars and haven't drawn anything either since the boycott began.
Finally, the silence from Happy elements concerning this issue is insane, paired with the obvious damage control accompanying it.
As someone who has been a fan of Ensemble Stars for almost 6 years, Happy Elements racism disgusts me. Not only is adding a character to a 10 year old unit when no one wanted it disrespectful to the fans, but putting a Ryukyuan character into a traditional Japanese unit is abhorrent. The imperialist symbolism used in the art and mv's is additionally awful.
I love Enstars dearly. That's why I feel the need to speak up about the consistent imperialism present within it. Stories such as !! Main Story, Main Story 1.5, Atlantis, Stella Maris, and now this current story have portrayed colonization as necessary, degraded indigenous people, and promoted the dangerous thinking of Japan's oppression being correct. I urge others to please educate themselves and analyze the writing in order to understand why the boycott is taking place. Many indigenous people have been at the forefront of the movement, urging others to understand why this propaganda cannot be tolerated. It draws upon the very real and ongoing violence inflicted upon colonized people by the Empire of Japan. It is a line of thinking that cannot be allowed to continue. Please sign this petition.
ive been a fan for a very short amount of time, (almost a year) but this game has strengthened one of my closest friendships in that time and I cant let it go, but the absolute insanity I've learned about from the stories and outside gameplay conversation about the creators, its ruined a lot. its ruined the games atmosphere, the fandoms reputation(as if we even at all agree with the creators), its ruined the passions so many have for this franchise. but what it has done is given us an opportunity to shed light on how disrespected indigenous people are in specific natures like this, and how specific instances like this can shed light on such issues.
Akatsuki has brought me a lot of joy through their music and stories, this group has been inspiring to me and is why I stuck with playing Ensemble Stars. With the sudden decision to place Ibuki in Akatsuki, it really has become crystal clear that Happy Elements doesn't respect fans of Akatsuki or Ibuki, since adding an indigenous character only to push the idea he need to colonize himself to find his true identity is gross and utterly racist. What Happy Elements is doing is disrespectful towards indigenous people and to fans of Akatsuki who now watch as they're turned into a imperialistic dog whistle with their new MV imagery. Their decision has made me feel disgusted beyond belief.
as someone who holds this franchise and its character so so close to my heart for several and many years it’s just so so disheartening to me, someone who is an indigenous person, see happyele do this. yes, racism has been a large issue in this game for many years and it can be said for many other gacha/rhythm franchises but this decision they have made this year has put me thru so many emotions this past week since writing this. it sucks having to be so deeply and emotionally attached to a piece of media who uses my identity like a toy. indigenous people are not your toys happy elements. i am an amagiP and ibuki was the character out of 4piece i seemed to gravitate towards to the most and its so frustrating to see what they get reduced to by its own company and even its fans sometimes. please do better happyele no one wanted this.
As an Asian American who's roots come from those effected by Imperial Japan, what they've done to Ibuki is extremely harmful. The use of imperialistic symbols now incorporated in AKATSUKI's mv of their very first song is harmful as well. Using Ibuki and AKATSUKI for an agenda is horrible and they deserve better.
As a long time fan of the series, and someone who was taken in by the story first and foremost. This is a disrespect on one of the original groups that started the franchise, and upon the entirety of their character growth and development as a unit. Not to mention how inherently racist it is to place Ibuki into a unit based upon the beauty of JP culture, basically assimilating him into a culture that’s not his own, and making his own identity as an indigenous character out to be “less than” by doing such. There are multiple other units which could have taken in Ibuki or even allowing him to be a solo act. This decision reeks of malice, especially with the addition of the rising sun being added to AKATSUKI’s MV. Please, rectify this decision and do the right thing. This change is harmful and no good comes from it.
