As a Marine and a Lineman myself, I call on our state lawmakers to take this serious. I have seen so much out here on the roadways, it's sad. Especially these days where everyone is so distracted on their phones or putting on makeup or reading a book or the other 100 things people do while driving.
My husband is a marine corps veteran as well and also worked along side the men who died in Eden. Not only were they co workers but friends of his. He worked jobs in Eden as well as on the same road those guys died on. They all have kids, wives, brothers, mothers and fathers that love them deeply. They now have to go on with out them. Worlds shuddered and turned upside down. The comments from the family of the man who did this have appalled me and the fact he is only getting charged misdemeanor offenses blows my mind. I could not imagine someone not only taking one life but 4 and altering another 3 and getting misdemeanor charges. This has to change.
My husband and my son works in traffic control to help protect Duke Energy and the contractor companies through Duke and I am for this and anything that can help protect all workers that work in the road or on the side of the road...RIP to all the men that lost their lives that horrible day
My husband is a lineman in Illinois and this has been a law for at least 10 years. Cones, signs, a flagger, all of things that a crew needs to keep them safe and help them come back home to their families.
May Matt rest in peace and I pray this law gets passed.
We need stricter penalties for negligent drivers who take people’s lives. Misdemeanor death by vehicle is not enough! Victims everywhere in North Carolina deserve justice!
