Homesteading is a lifestyle choice that emphasizes self-sufficiency, sustainability, and a connection to the land. It involves activities such as gardening, raising livestock, and preserving food, aimed at reducing reliance on external sources. Recent trends show a growing interest in homesteading as people seek to live more sustainably and independently.
Key issues and themes in homesteading petitions include access to affordable land for homesteading, supporting local food systems, and promoting environmental stewardship. One notable petition calls for government incentives to make land ownership more accessible for aspiring homesteaders, highlighting the benefits of sustainable living practices.

I’ve had backyard chickens for 3 years now and fully believe everyone should have the chance to own chickens too! They are relaxing and we share fresh eggs with friends and family! All the kids come to see our girls too!
As a chicken keeper, I encourage backyard chicken ownership - especially now that egg prices are continually rising in price. Small backyard flocks are easy to maintain and keep clean, and have many benefits including teaching children how to care for animals, providing fresh eggs for the family, and providing fresh mulch and compost for plants and flowers. We encourage your to consider voting YES for chickens in Connellsville! Many of your surrounding neighbors do, there shouldn't be any reason to not! Let your ordinances for noise and mess handle the rest - approve chicken ownership for your community!
I moved to White Lake from a city in Minnesota with a population of more than 300,000 and small city lot sizes. Chickens were allowed and common. I was absolutely shocked to find the lot size requirement in White Lake, a place that still feels rural despite its development and proximity to larger cities. Chickens are a breeze to care for and are an educational experience not only for children but also for adults. Too many people have become severely disconnected from where their food comes from and silly regulations like this one don't help. We need to give power back to people. There are so many benefits to collecting your own eggs, from knowing what the hens are being fed to the environmental impact of not shipping eggs long distances and keeping them cool. It's a no-brainer... residents of White Lake should be allowed to have hens, ducks, and rabbits regardless of their lot size.
I am hoping you will consider amending the poultry ordinance here in white Lake. I have 2 young girls, 5 and 7 at home. I would love for them to wake up in the morning and be excited to run outside and see our chickens. I think it is a great teaching opportunity about responsibility and animal care. More importantly being able to show them where our food is coming from. Chickens help control pest problems and are natural fertilizers which greatly reduces the need to use chemicals. I’m
As a concerned citizen living near Sibley, MO. I hope you decide against putting this battery disposal plant in the same area that my drinking water comes from. This will cause many problems for a lot of friends and neighbors not just myself. Please find another location outside of an area where people live. Sibley is a farming community as well as residential. It would be a mistake to dispose of such things in an area where not only our water comes from, but also crops are grown.
Respectfully,
Nicholas Bishop
I've lived in this area my whole life and I'm raising my family here. This community is best served by using the land for homes, agriculture, and local business.
Industrial facilities with toxic chemicals are too much risk. There are multiple schools within the high risk area if (when) a catastrophic event occurs. This facility must not be allowed to jeopardize our homes, children, and community.
Please bring back Life below zero, Next Generation & Port Protection. Not only have I learned so much from these shows, but I love seeing how the people in Port Protection are so caring & supportive of each other, it really renews my faith in humanity in this crazy & cruel world. Life below zero & Next Generation taught me valuable survival skills, should I need to evacuate, due to all the wildfires & earthquakes we have here. Because of these shows, I have confidence I can go anywhere, build a shelter & take care of myself. Please bring them back!
Life Below Zero not only got me through the deep depression of the pandemic, but the show still has my undivided attention after all of these seasons. It has motivated me to treat the planet and my fellow citizens with more respect and care. I have binge watched the series through some other down and dark times in my life and it has always brought me back to the lighter side of life. I look forward to seeing Sue, Agnes and Chip, Jessie and even Andy and learning from them some skills that can only be taught through their experience and words. Please keep the series going.
I am so upset that you would choose to cancel LBZ. It has been our family’s favorite show on television sense the beginning. It’s like a large part of our family have been taken from us. I’ll never understand why and I’ll never watch Nat Geo again
