One wonders how Fiona Campbell can go from News, to apparently running a youth channel and then into a newly created role overseeing factual entertainment and arts. I rather thought those in charge should be proven specialists. The quality of factual entertainment is not as sharp as it was. Maybe that will change?

Nice man. I wish no ill will, but he's not a leader of entertainment commissioning. Also, wasn't that job meant to be based in Scotland or Manchester? Another job for a friend?? Kate needs to do much better. Will we be surprised if Chris Susman pops up in comedy?

She’s brought in a deeply underwhelming director of entertainment, who now needs three new heads underneath him. We all know one is going to Michael Jochnowicz and the other probably to Clodagh. There’s still ten or more comm eds. It seems Chris Suzzman is likely to be manoeuvered into the comedy director job, else it’ll be a poach from the other broadcasters. It’s hardly a revolution. It’s the same old tired story. Commissioning keeps growing and bad decision after bad decision hammers the industry. I’m furious.

Unfortunately, BBC content rewards mediocrity and offers too many sops. Numerous editors who failed, on grounds of merit to advance, get pay rises as unnecessary compensation. Favoured personalities get moved around big jobs regardless of suitability. Let’s not forget the Chief Content Officer role was created because Charlotte Moore was unsuccessful in her director general application. This is a role too big for any human. This is continued with the appointment of Matt Brittin, who may well offer brilliant new direction but seemingly has a real deficit in public service and broadcasting experience as BBC have highly paid role that did not previously exist in the deputy director general. These are ludicrously highly paid roles that in some cases should not exist and in others should not be operating at this expense to the public.
Roger supported: Create stronger scrutiny for BBC content and commissioningLindsay Salt gets £325,000???? For what??? Her drama commissioning record is not good. How can such a salary be justified? Likewise commissioning editors underneath her are getting exorbitant amounts. I’m stunned.
