Forests play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and biodiversity around the world. Recent events, such as deforestation, wildfires, and climate change, have underscored the urgent need to protect our forests. Petitions under this topic focus on issues like illegal logging, habitat destruction, and conservation efforts.
One prominent petition calls for an end to deforestation in the Amazon rainforest, highlighting the devastating impact on indigenous communities and wildlife. Another petition advocates for sustainable logging practices to prevent further destruction of old-growth forests. Petitioners also address the importance of reforestation and afforestation initiatives to combat climate change.

Living in Bluff City, Tennessee, I’m lucky to be surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Appalachian Mountains and the nearby Cherokee National Forest. These forests and trails have been part of my life for as long as I can remember — places like the Abram Falls and Grayson Highlands aren’t just paths through the woods, they’re escapes where we can reconnect with peace, quiet, and nature.
The forest around me is alive — I’ve seen deer dart through the trees, watched playful river otters, heard owls calling at dusk, and even caught glimpses of black bears at a distance. It’s not just scenery. It’s a living, breathing home to so many creatures, and it brings joy, calm, and healing to the people who walk its trails.
Recent policy changes have rolled back environmental protections on over half of U.S. national forests, including areas within the Cherokee National Forest. These changes aim to expedite logging activities.
America should be more than just industrial buildings!
These changes make it easier to log large areas without thorough environmental reviews or input from the public — people like me, who live here and care about these lands. It’s not just about trees being cut down — it’s about ecosystems being disrupted, trails we love potentially lost, and wildlife being driven out of their homes.
Cherokee National Forest is part of who we are here. It’s where families hike, where kids learn to love the outdoors, and where many of us find peace in an increasingly chaotic world. I’m sharing my story because I believe these forests deserve a voice — and so do the people and animals who depend on them.
Please, let’s protect our National Forests for all of us, and for the generations who haven’t yet walked these trails or heard the wind in these trees. They’re worth fighting for.
These are not just "parks." They're homes to local economies, biodiversity hotspots, ecosystems that include and exclude humans. The natural world should remain as such - natural.
Greedy billionaire investor companies are coming into Florida, wiping out Florida lands, and developing “ luxury” apartment and housing communities. Florida is quite literally becoming New Jersey/New York and many, many Floridians are moving out of the state because the cost of living has skyrocketed in recent years due to overdevelopment. As someone who’s lived here all his life, it’s devastating to see how Florida is insanely overpopulated at this point and infrastructure does not support how many people live here. Desantis will continue to allow investor companies to come in and make their money at the cost of the every day person. We need a governor who actually cares about Floridians and stops the development and wiping out of undeveloped land
