my favorite quote is (When students cheat on exams, it's because our school system values grades more than students value learning. - Neil deGrasse Tyson) I will support anything about making schools better I think we should teach things that matter like teaching cooking while doing math thing that helps in life and not hammering things into kids heads from the moment they enter school all school has done for me is make me feel that it is pointless to get good grades and when you ask people who have passed high school and have a job and are successful if they use algebra or the periodic table every day in their job they will say no what is the point of overwhelming kids with pointless info and say "you have to know this to be successful in life" no you don't there are many paths in life and school doesn't prepare you for and now of days kids aren't taught cursive it gets worse and worse every year I hear this excuse all the time that the stuff they tech you helps you problem solve and it really dousint my grandma used to say "practice dousint make perfect it makes you dull to knew ways to view things
the short story is school systems have gone to shit and most kids aren't stupid they just need to be in a environment where learning is fun
There has been a war on the truth for quite sometime. Senior leaders of every branch have sacrificed integrity for personal benefit, and it shows. It is time for DoD IG to be independent and external to DoD; just like “Lady Justice” the DoD IG should be blind (unbiased), and follow the truth no matter where it takes them.
The structure of the system defeats the reported purpose of the system.
During my 20 year career, I have submitted two IG complaints. Nothing became of either of them, despite receiving a phone call from someone in the IGs office reaching out to tell me they agreed with me. He then added he would be unable to put that in writing or state it officially.
Even when they want to take action, they’re afraid to, because of personal/professional risk.
If the intent of the IG is to resolve issues and make the organization better it is imperative that they are insulated from command influence. Just as our government has systems of checks and balances, so should should be the IG. It has been my experience with DoDIG and DAIG that they are more focused on making grievances go away, as opposed to resolving real issues. I would be interested to see the metrics of issues filed and what percentage actually resulted in a change in the organization.
