We need a Fair Trade movement to protect British workers, in addition to the one for developing countries. I believe that, if people were given the choice between getting their services or goods cheaply through exploitation, and paying a bit extra, knowing that workers would be fairly treated as a result, many would be willing to pay more, knowing that they were buying with a clear conscience. It used to be that we could "buy British", and know that the rights of workers had been protected, but this no longer seems to be the case.
Both my Grandfathers and my in-laws died before they received their state pensions. It is disgraceful that the government then waste the money when it should be given to their family’s
I took early retirement to concentrate on my health. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer in October 2021. I worked solidly for 40 years and am entitled to a full state pension. It is highly unlikely that I will reach 67 to claim my state pension. It is so unfair that my wife will not be able to claim my pension. It is my money, not the government's. Furthermore, if you are entitled to a full state pension, you should be able to claim it early if you have a life limiting disease like I have got. I do hope that this petition is taken seriously by our
MPs.
My husband John retired early at age 55 and 1week after he retired he was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus, and despite having the operation he died 9 months after his diagnosis
My Dad died aged 45, having served in the navy for 7 of his working years including the atomic tests in the Pacific, yet all his contributions were lost to the system.
I believe that a working person pays quite a lot in taxes and other contributions throughout their life, which support the state. However, a pension is the part they set aside for themselves, which means it should be allowed to be passed on to other family members or people they trust—those close to them who support them. I believe that is fair.
Having paid full into the state pension scheme I would most definitely want my loved ones to benefit from that if I passed away. It seems unfair that 36 years of paying into it for it to just be absorbed by the central pot to never be seen again, truly unfair and unjust.
