An 18-year-old boy took a gun from his parents' closet, shot himself in the head, and lost his life. Before doing so, he sent four of his friends the message: "Death is better than success."
The pressure of CAIEs alone is already enough. Students spend months dealing with constant pressure from parents, teachers, relatives, and society, where grades are treated as if they define a person's entire future. Instead of ensuring a fair examination process during one of the most stressful periods in a student's life, Cambridge delivered an utter failure of management that only added more stress, uncertainty, and anxiety for thousands of students.
Unfortunately, after seeing Cambridge's latest statement, it's clear that their priority is not the students but their own reputation and profits. Announcing that the IGCSE and AS Physics papers in ME and Africa were leaked only after the examination session had ended and students were already on vacation proves they were happy to let the outrage die down before admitting what had happened. As of now, Cambridge will get away with ignoring the majority of the leaks.
We managed to reach almost 3,000 signatures. Hundreds of people made reels and posts about this issue. Yet Cambridge's Managing Director, Rod Smith, and the rest of the management have shown us that they care more about maintaining their reputation as the world's "largest" provider of international education than actually listening to the students. What a joke.
While talks are going on behind the scenes with the Government of Pakistan, I believe this campaign reached its peak a while ago. Students just aren't interested anymore maybe they will be again, if the thresholds skyrockets. who knows.
For now, my personal participation in this protest against the Cambridge leaks seems to be over. Not because I don't want to continue, but because the momentum is gone. I can only hope that the talks with the Government of Pakistan are successful and that major action is finally taken against this failure we call Cambridge International Education.
We were never able to create the level of awareness we should have. Schools and institutions failed you by staying silent. Cambridge failed you.
This petition and the evidence drive will stay active forever as proof of Cambridge's utter failure during the 2026 examination session.
I will continue posting any important future updates on @pakstudentcoalition.
Thank you to everyone who signed, shared, submitted evidence, and stood with us.
