This year has been rough, no hay, increase in hard feeds, having to sell horses to make it through. And now my love for competing has had a financial increase that I just can’t afford. We need this price to come down, if not, I’m afraid I won’t be able to afford my greatest love of competing. That’s not fair!

Very exclusionary and in no way in the spirit of or interest in maintaining this sport and making it accessible to all.
It’s near on impossible to participate any longer with the exorbitant fees in general and now this membership fee hike is tantamount to extortion.
Disappointing but not unexpected really when you see the trend.
We are hamstrung in this, either don’t pay for membership and be unable to do pretty much anything or get financially slapped and then still be unable to participate because the funds are now no longer there.
We don’t need entry fees to hike up any further either.
Beth supported: Urge Equestrian Australia to Review Fee IncreaseAs a volunteer and coach I have watched in huge disappointment the inadequate management of our sport. This fee increase is no surprise but it may bring a quicker change to the administration of our sport if the members are not heard.

I know I can hardly afford to compete, but I love it so much that I make sacrifices to afford it. Unfortunately, when the costs rise this significantly, I have to really think about whether it’s worth it. This makes the sport even more elitist and takes the joy out of it for those who are there to enjoy there horse. Especially in a year where having horses is already more expensive (at least in VIC the price of hay is extreme) it seems especially cruel to hit the equestrian community with these extra fees.
Jackie supported: Urge Equestrian Australia to Review Fee IncreaseThe increase not being evenly distributed across its members is concerning especially when all “competitive” members despite being an AOR or not all have access to the same “member benefits” (despite the lack of benefits) this doesn’t just affect the dressage but sadly I have had to tell my 6yo we will not being doing the EA youth show due to the cost of memberships as I would have to renew just to do leading rein!
Why are all the states fees different? Why are the increases not the same across the board?

We need them for the base line of the industry and I believe that EA has got lost along the way consumed by greed and forgotten this principle

Very few are run in my area so I am travelling in on average about 5 hours each way to comps and therefore I can only do a select few a year. I cannot afford to even do that when these fees are so big. And if I only do one I still have to pay the full amount. Which makes that one comp outrageously expensive! I do not want to give it up, but it looks like I might have to.
