Urge Equestrian Australia to Review Fee Increase

The issue

As a dedicated member of Equestrian Australia (EA), my passion for equestrian sports has been a significant part of my life. However, the recent decision by EA to increase membership fees has added an overwhelming financial burden during an already challenging cost of living crisis. For many of us, these fee increases could mean having to reconsider our involvement in the sport we love, or worse, being forced to give it up entirely.

Equestrian activities should be accessible to a diverse range of enthusiasts, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Unfortunately, with the rising costs, this inclusivity is at risk. These increases do not only affect single participants; they impact families who enjoy equestrian pursuits together, driving a wedge through community participation and potentially leading to a decline in memberships across the board.

Equestrian Australia's decision seems to overlook the current financial strain many are experiencing. According to recent economic reports, household financial pressure has reached unprecedented levels, with many Australians reevaluating discretionary spending just to make ends meet.

We urge Equestrian Australia to listen to its members and consider the implications of these fee increases. A more collaborative approach could be explored, considering alternative cost-saving measures or a phased approach to managing increased operational costs without placing the burden solely on members.

By signing this petition, we can demonstrate to Equestrian Australia that its decision has widespread consequences that threaten the future of equestrian participation. We call on EA to reconsider its decision and engage in a dialogue with members to find a solution that safeguards our sporting community's sustainability. Sign now to ensure equestrian sports remain accessible and within reach for all members.
