Please focus on the aspect of sex trafficking of minors. Please I beg you ammend this and include the specific wording. This issue is one of crimes against humanity. Children suffer every day in the most horrific ways. We can not tolerate this. We can not normalize 500,000-800,000 children going missing in a year. Please hear us!
Yes! This is brilliantly and eloquently written. Anyone who has a true respect for equal rights, equality under the law, and for abolishing all injustices within society with genuine care to eliminate any and all forms of prejudice and inequality should sign this petition. The double standard of who may or may not be topless in public exasperates anyone with a heightened sense and respect for freedom and gender equality. As this petition masterfully points out, Europe is very much ahead of America in regard to respect of women’s rights. Extending the right to be topless to women is long overdue in America while women have had this right for decades within Europe. European women also enjoy the dignity they deserve and the opportunity to attain all social, economic and political positions within society. European women can be viewed topless just like their male counterparts, have the opportunity to put to use their innate talents to excel in any career, and have acquired leadership roles within government at the highest of levels. American women, on the contrary, are still not treated with equal respect and the double standard of allowing men to go topless while disallowing women to do the same only exacerbates the gender inequities in America. Indeed, mutual respect of rights for men and women alike actually, as is obvious to any enlightened thinker, promotes harmony among the sexes and reduces instances of violence and abuse within society at large. And let us not forget the simple fact that seemingly every American ignores: It is the fact that every human being has plenty of viewing of the female nipple within the first few months of their lives while breastfeeding for crying out loud! This means that the absurd and nonsensical notion of censoring the female nipple in the name of “protecting the children” runs entirely against logic and rational thought because every child who was breastfed has not only seen the female nipple but also has suckled on them! Not to mention, indigenous communities that are still alive and well within Sub-Saharan Africa and South America are traditionally topless among both sexes and they have been living like this for countless millennia. People of both sexes living within Western society have also traditionally lived topless at one time or another before they invented arbitrary social norms based on antiquated and puritanical religions. Free the nipple and treat both sexes with the respect they deserve!
Pride month is needed now more than ever. Show people that your city is a kind and safe space for your LGTBQ community. Beautiful humans like our daughter deserve to live freely, have equal rights and love whomever they choose.
Please do the right thing.
Thank you.
I was born and raised in Taylor. I grew up in a time where it wasn’t easy to be yourself fully. Kids were made fun of and picked on for it.
I believe the Pride Month is a fantastic signal and message for kids and adults scared to fully be themselves that the town is loving and supportive of all walks of life. I want the town to be better than the experiences I had growing up, afraid to be authentic in fear of losing my friends, classmates etc.
Being an American, living in America, it should not be about discrimination! It should not be about hate, it deserves to be about acceptance. Isn’t that what we really deserve? By that I mean Everyone… Don’t let the hate and revenge and ignorance become the Rule… That’s never been the American way
Taylor has long been a leader in celebrating diverse voices and building authentic cultural communities - it would be such a shame to see the town become regressive because its leaders are too fearful to recognize the differences that make the community unique!
The Pride organization and the feeling that this was a safe place is a major reason why I decided to purchase a home in Taylor late last year. So far, I am happy with my choice, but I am saddened to see this behavior by the leadership. I can't wait to vote.
We in the LGBTQIA community vote, pay taxes and are full citizens of this country. PRIDE recognizes our contributions and our struggles. The decision to pull support is wrong. Please reconsider.
Taylor Pride has been a shining example of the incredible character of the community of Taylor. It's an inclusive, joyful event and has a vital purpose. The decision by the mayor is divisive and expresses ignorance. I hope he educates himself, opens his heart, and reconsiders this poor decision.
