Much of the development is not needed or wanted. Some communities near me have water rationing in place. The environmental impact does not seem to be considered. A community near me fought to keep a small watershed which was a bird sanctuary. They loved it. The commissioners voted to build a Publix. There’s a Publix 1/2 mile away. Very disappointing.
HB 4061 gives developers emminant domain over our water, roads etc. We are retired on fixed income & won't be able to pay the exorbitant rates Mattamy Homes plans to charge residents for 99 years.
I love my home for approximately 23 years in Myakka City, Fl. I can feel my blood pressure drop going East on Fruitvillle rd toward home as I pass cattle, horses, andassorted wildlife. not any more as I see NY City at I-75. It breaks my heart!
This is legislation introduced by the WVID's own House representative, who seems to have the Canadian billionaire who owns a significant portion of Wellen Park, where WVID is located, more than his own American voter constituency. The billionaire Canadian developer seems to have the ear of Florida legislature and Ron DeSantis as previous legislation shows. All of this catering to a billionaire Canadian is at the expense of Real Americans who live in, vote in and pay taxes in WVID, the people that are being attacked by their own legislature.
To the elected officials of Florida. Over the last 60 years I have watched Florida change from agricultural to overpopulated. The developers of West Villages and Wellen park to the best of my knowledge are foreign owned and controlled. Yet they are pouring money into lobbyists and attorneys to attempt to enforce their power over Florida voting citizens. Read the comments of my fellow residents who vote and live in West Villages and Wellen Park and Do the Right Thing!
VOTE NAY for HB 4061!
HB4061 was created by the West Villages Improvement District (WVID) to keep control by the Master Developer in perpetuity and not allow Wellen Park residents their right to additional seats on the five-member governing board.
Based on a comparison of the WVID trim notice which is every assessed unit within the district, to the Sarasota County tax records, 40% of the homes are not homesteaded.
OR
Withdraw HB4061 until the pending litigation on urbanization is closed!
The four members of WVID who are employed by the Master Developer are currently being sued under the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act for unethical, deceptive and illegal practices.
WVID is also being sued for signing an illegal 100-year contract related to irrigation water which makes a direct payment to a subsidiary of the Master Developer for obscene fees currently collected from ALL residents of Wellen Park.
Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter!

SV Granite has long been a cornerstone of our local economy, providing quality granite and dependable service to countless residents and businesses in the community. For years, this family-owned business has contributed not only jobs but also a sense of pride and continuity in an area that is rapidly changing. The notice to vacate issued by VTA threatens to displace a vital part of our local fabric without adequate support or alternatives. We stand in strong support of SV Granite and urge VTA to reconsider its decision or work collaboratively toward a solution that honors the business's deep roots and the livelihoods it sustains.
