I’ve never felt the need to because America, by and large, has never once done a thing for California or for Californians. But I do identify as a Californian because we stand for innovation, intellectual progress, and protecting the people who need it most. And this rings true with every day that passes since the January 2025 inauguration. I’m not an American. I’m a Californian and it’s about time we take back our independence from this theocratic idiocracy and their party that has been threatening our rights and safety for over half a century!

I want young men to have kind, safe role models who do not advocate for racial, political, and bigoted violence. I want immigrants of all nations to feel that they have a place in California. I want a Nazi-free home! I want so much better for California! I want my vote to MATTER!
Trump, Elon, Zuckerburg, Bezos... These billionaires don't care about us, and they're willing to drag us back down to a disgusting past I hoped sincerely we would be able to learn from. I sign this petition for so many reasons, and I hope you will too.

Yet we have less say in national affairs than voters in most states. The federal government threatening to withhold disaster aid was the last straw for me. Remaining in the union is no longer a good deal for us. We are taken for granted while the GOP twists our democracy into an ologarchy. We dont have to play anymore. Lets secede and then either negotiate a better deal, or chart our own path. Well be better off.

If we can’t receive the respect, and the love, in fact that we deserve from the rest of the union, we’re big enough, and we’re innovative enough to go our own way. I think the saddest part of Trump‘s return to the White House isn’t about Trump, it’s about feeling quite isolated from the remainder of the United States and not sure how I can really move forward as we have been in the past with the way, they’re believing things should be.
