Where is the continuity?! So many things wrong with this sneak peek. The animation style is atrocious and needs to be changed back! Felicia’s eyes are supposed to be blue. Why would Felicia looks so squished and warped compared to her parents. Those ears ? Where are fergus and farkle? This looks like it’s going to be a total disappointment. Even Pinocchio looks warped. If this turns out to be some modern all inclusive sell out piece of trash like everything else coming out, expect it to flop! I am a die hard Shrek fan and my child loves Shrek but even she was uninterested in this when I showed it to her. These kids don’t want this new ugly AI Temu animation style. Almost ever kid I know prefers the animation we 30 somethings grew up with even with the fuzzy lines because it’s not overly processed cheap soulless trash. Do better Dreamworks! 💔
I love Shrek so much that I’m literally having a Shrek wedding in a month. All my friends get me Shrek-related merchandise (just received an onion coin purse as a gift) because they know how much it means to me and my partner. Dreamworks, please don’t go forward with the animation style in the trailer. I think we all would accept the movie being delayed a little longer if it had the same charm of the original movies, and the characters were aged up but still themselves, not with totally changed facial proportions. I also think it’s really disappointing that you made Shrek look so much visibly older than Fiona; isn’t the entire point of the film that beauty is about what’s inside, and it’s better to be a literal ogre and with your true love than to be conventionally beautiful and alone??? So you made her an ogre, many years have gone past, and she has a single line on her eyebrow but her husband looks like he needs to be checked into an old folks home. Mmmmmkay. We know you can do better because you’ve done it before! Love, one of your biggest fans 💚
The decision to change the animation style of Shrek after four movies is incredibly disappointing. The original animation had a distinct charm and character that defined my childhood, making the franchise feel unique and timeless. By switching to a new, more generic style, DreamWorks has erased the essence of what made Shrek special in the first place. I refuse to support this change and won’t be watching the new movie. If DreamWorks truly valued the legacy of Shrek, they would honor the original animation instead of conforming to modern trends that strip away its identity.
My family and I love the shrek movies. They’re something that we will constantly sit down together and binge as a family. We have always found the movies hilarious and to have a great storyline. However, with the new animation of Shrek 5, it does not seem to be loyal with the original animation at all. I get that they want to modernize the film for a newer generation, but don’t forget about the older generation that grew up watching these films. Heck, even copying the same newer kind of animation used in Puss in Boots 2 would look good for this film. I’m not for this complete new redesign of characters though. Please just remember the older fans too with this new movie.
I have been a HUGE fan of the Shrek franchise my whole life. These movies really are a comfort for me because I grew up with them. I was so incredibly excited when I heard we were getting another film but at the same time I was extremely worried on how they would execute it. Then when I saw the trailer, I know it sounds dramatic, but it ruined my day knowing that my fears were becoming a reality. I completely understand that Trolls was a huge hit with the newer generation and the first Trolls movie was great. But I'm going to keep saying it. Shrek does NOT translate well in the Trolls font. Shrek was known for it's realistic but expressive animation while still pulling off cartoony things. This trailer makes them look way too cartoonish, it's jarring and bizarre. Yes I understand they want it to do good with the little audiences but please don't go the cheap route and make Shrek look like every animated movie that has come out in the last few years. They did an incredible job with the Puss in Boots 2 animation. They kept the characters recognizable while adding new interesting animation techniques. For example, if you put Puss in the Shrek 5 movie with the 2nd Puss in Boots movie design, he would stick out like a sore thumb! I believe they can fix this, I just hope they will listen to us like the people behind the Sonic movie did. This may seem like just a bunch of adults whining over a movie but this is something our generation holds dearly. We want more of it but we want it to be done respectfully because Shrek is truly unique.
There is a reason Shrek became the iconic, popular classic animation that it is and the main reason for this is the original animation style. This new style is shockingly downplaying Shrek and other characters unique features and what made Shrek the classic “ugly” ogre that he is. This new style is mimicking so much out there now (such as Disney animation) making Shrek almost appear cute and soft. This style almost appears lazy having less characters on each character (for example, Fiona’s braids are gone, all their faces are smooth, less details in eyes). There is no denying bringing back Shrek is largely for the population that grew up with it and grew to love it. That is who is guaranteed to go see this movie. There is no need to change or “fix” something that was never broken. Please bring back the old animation style. We want to go into this theater feeling like we picked up where we left off, instead of feeling like we are watching a new version that doesn’t quite feel right.
