There should be harsher penalties and more defined rules concerning animal abuse. The beating of the dog in Albemarle county was horrendous. Also I pass hound dogs on Dudley mountain road in small outdoor pens in single digit weather AND in 90+ degree weather. Cruel dangerous conditions for these dogs. Nothing is done about it.
Humans who make a choice to own an animal have a responsibility to provide at minimum, basic needs and any and all medical attention required. Owning an animal is a choice and any abuse, neglect or suffering is also a deliberate choice. With many options available for pet owners who may be struggling including but not limited to:
Low cost veterinary services, assistance in obtaining necessary food, and options to surrender the animal to local shelters, any mistreatment is willful and intentional. Our community will not tolerate willful neglect and abuse of animals in our area. The maximum penalties are indicated for those who seek financial gain at the expense and intentional suffering of other living beings. Owning an animal is a privilege that should be beneficial to both pet and human. It is not a right and does not come without responsibility and consequences. Our community is placing trust in our legal system to uphold the laws and regulations and standards that are set to protect the voiceless.
I know one of the dogs rescued from this horrid woman and she is the sweetest most amazing girl was incredibly able to forgive humans after being left in a shed full of feces and trash bags with her siblings rotting away inside
Backyard breeding is nothing more than a quick buck for those who call themselves “breeders”. They breed the female dog over and over again. Conditions are deplorable. Pups are born sick because Mom was sick and bred anyways. She threw the dogs in the trash. She needs to have the judicial law book thrown at her. No more slaps on the wrist, no more breeding and eliminate her rights to ever own another animal again. Mandatory jail time. She provided nothing more than a life of misery to those innocent Dogs. Thank you for those who rescued them
I currently have one of the poor puppies that was found wondering the streets. His name is Higgins and he, and his sisters, are the reason these other dogs were able to be saved. This poor dog was living in his own feces. So much so, that all his fur had to be shaved down to the skin due to severe matting. His paws are urine stained. He is very fearful of people and does not know how to be a puppy. He did not understand the concept of being petted or loved, but he is slowly coming out of his shell and learning how to be a dog. I am so thankful to everyone who helped save dogs.
I’ve always been an animal lover, a true one. I love even the unlovable creatures. It sickens me to see some of the MOST lovable animals forced to endure such awful treatment having done nothing to deserve it. Peoples irresponsible behavior with the invaluable lives of animals is nothing short of heinous… and all for financial gain! Another INNOCENT living thing’s life is NOT yours to use for your own personal benefit. It’s completely immoral.
This should’ve been stopped long before any animals died. What a sad situation for everyone involved. Thank goodness the rescuers are strong enough; dutiful enough to do their jobs. I can only say that I believe SHE and anyone who was complicit with her actions should be forced to give up any rights they may have not only to animals but anyone, children included, under their care. May she hear the cries of those poor starved and abused babies every night while she tries to sleep.
