We are the only rec legal state that doesnt allow homegrow. The argument of consumer safety is just silly. The small collection of homegrowers will not impact the taxing or sales anymore than your local tomato gardener. Its time to decriminalize this last and final step, so those self mediciating can not live in fear
In the garden state, the legal cannabis industry was normalized by the ongoing trials and tribulations of medical cannabis patients. People like Jeff Oakes, Jake Honig, Cheryl Miller paved the way, so others could benefit from this life saving medicine. What was once considered criminal to possess, became a viable solution for sick people to better their lives and get treatment. We cannot, and must not forget the legacy and people that enabled legal recreational sales. Without patients, adult use customers would be buying in back alleys, not brick and mortar shops. The state government made a commitment and promise to protect and prioritize medical patients at every phase of the AU roll out. The CRC has tried to do good things, but in many ways have hurt patients. From 120k patients, down to 70k patient enrollment. Why? Because they failed to separate medical cannabis and AU. They failed to put patients 1st, and honor their promise to protect the best interests of the medical community. They would rather approve businesses to grow 10,000+ plants, so they can make money, then approve 1 person 6-10 plants for personal use. There have been legitimate discussions or reasoning behind stagnant legislation that would permit medical cannabis homegrow. I’ve been to the state senate, committees, and talked to elected officials. Seemingly, politics and pay to play is holding up progress from occurring. It’s willfully negligent, to say a cancer patient should go to jail for 3-5 years for a single plant, but companies can do it if they pay the state off. Something has to change, and that starts by getting Senate President Scutari to allow the committees to discuss proposed legislation, make changes, and proceed forward with something for patients. Why am I still waiting?
It really isn't right that as medical patients, we pay some of the highest prices in the country. This is ontop of patients, not always being able to get the strains that help them the most. NJ voted overwhelmingly to legalize cannabis. I didnt see on the ballot where it said legal weed/illegal cultivation for NJ and big pharma to profit. Especially when our neighbors in NY and CT have the rights we do not.
Right now New Jersey is just a cash cow for medical marijuana some of us that are on disability and not at this income for not afford medical marijuana we would like the right to at least grow our own it's not going to hurt the market any. We can't even afford to get it of three and four hundred dollars an ounce that's 30% of my check or more..
