I live in University Farm and do not want this dangerous monstrosity in my neighborhood. There is an Elementary School, athletic fields, Little League fields, parks and a “Wellness Center” nearby. Ironic isn’t it? A “Wellness Center” is just a block away. Also Westminster Village, a retirement center, assisted living and a nursing home facility, is just a couple of blocks away. Please move this toxic producer further away and out of the city of West Lafayette. Please reject this proposal for rezoning! There is a reason that this land was zoned residential in the first place..
As a retired environmental professional I am very concerned about hazardous materials transport, use, management on site. As a homeowner, I don't want my property values to decrease as industry moves in my neighborhood. I am also concerned with increased traffic making it increasingly harder to get adulting done and worse case scenario, get emergency vehicles across the river. And the noise of increased traffic as we grow has already decreased quality of life--as I hear semis jack brake at all hours of the night already. NO
I have many friends that live in the nearby neighborhoods. It is a place where lots of us, including me go for walks and runs. There is a great trail system that has been developed in that area. Heavy industry has its place. This is the exact wrong place.
This development is contextually and environmentally inappropriate. While the zoning plan may have been developed 50 years ago to include I3 and similar uses, the growth of West Lafayette north of sagamore and caliber has not developed towards those original 1970s plans. The reality of today's development, context and community needs should be prioritized.
Not to mention, placing any kind of industrial development across the street from a wellness center is especially tone deaf.
What this area needs are more opportunities for community and healthy social, environmental, and economic neighborhood scale development. The proposed industrial structure and resulting traffic schedule harms these community scale realities.
This is a residential area with many schools and daycares nearby. Building an industry here could pose serious health risks to the community. West Lafayette is a peaceful city, and I strongly oppose the development of any industry in this area. It would harm the environment and disrupt the tranquility of our community, turning our clean and peaceful city into a polluted and unpleasant place .

This area of land is not appropriate for heavy industrial use. It is surrounded by residential neighborhoods. There is a reason it was originally zoned as a residential neighborhood, and it needs to stay that way. Would the members of the APC and City Council want heavy industry in their backyard right next to their own homes? There is land elsewhere in the area that would have less impact on so many people.
The land should be kept as residential! Industries will destroy the peaceful environment. I love West Lafayette because it has natural beauty and provide a peace for my heart. Once it becomes heavy industries. The peace will go away. People we love will move away. People will get very sick due to pollution. I can not image what is going to happy once it becomes industrial zones.
My children are growing up in the backyard of this proposed manufacturing plant and want to grow up with out hazardous chemicals ruining their creek, yard and ability to play outside. They also attend the school in this proposed location and it will greatly impact their lives there. Please say no to this proposal for our children's futures.
Building an industrial factory in a residential area will have a devastating impact. It could potentially create a cancer cluster and lead to lawsuits against the West Lafayette city government/Purdue Research Park.
Exposing local residents to hazardous chemicals is a callous decision which will force people to sell their homes and move away. The elementary school is walking distance from this plot of land - young children will be affected by air, water, and soil pollution.
Rejecting this rezoning is in the best interest of the city government, as lawsuits and potential disease will create negative publicity for West Lafayette and Purdue University.
