My wife is a nail tech who works with these chemicals and even she understands the importance of not being under residential space or near animals. Greystar doing what they do to make that extra $1.
I used to live in the building and management did not care about the residents. They let Wabi play loud music that vibrated through my apartment waking up my newborn daughter. They lied and stated no noise problems to get me to move to a higher cost unit. Them getting a nail salon below the highest price units is not surprising and is a testament to their poor management skills and lack of concern for their residents.
As a licensed dentist and orthodontist I have reviewed all of the literature on fluoridated water - the decision made by Utah legislature is based on fear and not facts. Poor quality evidence is stoking the fears of good people who want the best for their children, and with all of my professional experience I can say that fluoridated water is what’s best for Utah’s kids! As with everything, the dose makes the poison, and fluoride is a natural mineral that often exists and belongs in drinking water! I have seen firsthand the effects of rampant early childhood cavities, and this is something so easy to implement to help our children.
I’m a believer in fluoride for my children. I’ve been giving them daily fluoride through a prescription since they were babies.
I also believe removing fluoride from the water will hurt the most vulnerable populations in Utah. The parents who are in survival mode will likely not brush their children’s teeth consistently, won’t go through the steps the get fluoride prescribed from a doctor, and will therefore reactively take their children to a dentist (on Medicaid insurance) to treat cavities and tooth decay. This could cause a lifetime of problems for these children and will cost Utah a lot of money, when prevention could have been a solution.
I have a niece who was diagnosed with left sided CDH, she was then born at 28 weeks' gestation (she's also a twin) she's now 6 months old and still in the hospital fighting strong.
