With experience teaching in the public school system as well as teaching college certificates to students in both Department of Corrections and Department of Juvenile Justice I have seen first hand the lack of impact the government has in correctly advocating for education that the future generations need. Homeschooling is by far more successful in preparing youth for societal roles as well as productivity creativity, problem solving and so much more. Homeschooling does not need this act, nor do the citizens with children who choose Homeschooling deserve to have this act passed. The future generations deserve better than what the government provides in public schools which is why those who can , will, and deserve to have the authority to educate their children. Future generations deserve what Homeschooling offers them. If the system of what laws, acts, programs and curriculum worked, then why do we have so many citizens that are falling through the cracks? One of the highest incarnation percentage? It's not Homeschooled children it's those who are in the government Substidize education system. I for one do not have children. Nor would I in this day in age. However, if I did have children I would Homeschool them and I would fight with everything I have to protect my children and the right to their education.

The state of Illinois has failed many of those in Public school and their focus should start there, and let homeschool families have the freedom to homeschool without legal repercussions and regulation from the state. This is a way to further expand government overreach for families that want less, and to teach values and individualized educational approach different from the public school standard.

My daughters were deceptively and deliberately removed from the Chicago Public School system a few years ago by using various systematic warlike tactics against me and my daughters. Then make it appear that it was relevant to CDC requirements and the parents choice. A complete disgrace and insult to our families. And while advocating, I was left with no other choice but to homeschool my daughters because CPS, CPS OIG and Board of Education choose not to hear a parent out and find solutions to pre-existing issues with the system. And now we have legislators and the governor making every effort to inhumanely continue assaulting homeschool parents after already being humiliated, assaulted, stalked, falsely accused, and undermined not only by school personnels but also by their affiliates and other government entities. We, the people, are tired of tyranny laws and shall not allow this to continue.

Homeschooling provides a personalized and effective education for many children, and increased government overreach threatens the rights of parents to make the best educational choices for their kids. Families should have the freedom to educate without unnecessary restrictions that do not serve the best interests of students. I strongly oppose HB2827 and urge lawmakers to protect homeschooling rights in Illinois.

The opportunity to discover and develop individual interests supported by parents who love them and know them best leads to unlimited opportunities! So far we have graduated an investor, IT specialist, and an apprentice plumber. We have yet to see what is ahead for our younger children. All are active members in their church and community -- mentoring robotics teams, teaching music lessons, & mowing lawns!
Nicole a soutenu : Please Support Homeschoolers by Opposing HB2827!I chose to home educate because my son was struggling with reading and my daughter was bored. Our district refused help either student because he “wasn’t failing enough,” and “we aren’t funded for a gifted program.”
Today these children have grown into healthy, confident and well educated young adults. The oldest heading to law school and youngest studying biological sciences at an Ivy League. Zero mental health issues. Zero socialization issues. Well accomplished in studies. Beautifully connected in team sports, music and clubs.
When the government can provide excellent personalized education in a safe environment that allows students to go deep into their interests and eliminates nonsensical screen learning I will concede to oversight. Until then, I strongly oppose this bill.
Patricia a soutenu : Please Support Homeschoolers by Opposing HB2827!Having the freedom to educate our children the way that is best for our kids, that is individualized to help them learn as well as follow their interests to instill a live of learning is one if the biggest reasons we are homeschooling. Another reason is that the government school system have been failing our children and not preparing them for the workforce. The quality of education has dramatically fallen after covid. This is putting undue pressure on families to conform to how the school system teaches, which does NOT work for all children. I will not be voting for any public officials that infringe on my parental rights to decide how best to teach my child, what is most important to prioritize, what curriculum to choose, how to teach etc. The main reason I have not left this state is that I have freedom of homeschooling. The wording of this is also vague enough to be open to interpretation and potentially taken advantage of to put further pressures on homeschooling.
Andrea a soutenu : Please Support Homeschoolers by Opposing HB2827!I chose to home educate for a few reasons, but the main one being that both my kids learn in different ways and the public school system has this cookie cutter way of learning and it just didn't fit my kids. My kids are learning not only their regular school subjects but also anything extra they are interested in. They are learning life skills and how to be self sufficient. They are relaxed and not rushed in their learning. My son who is special needs can get the one on one attention he needs in his lessons. When he was in public school they had not taught him any spelling, adding, and subtracting. I taught him how to do all that and not in a way that confused him. I believe it is our God given right as parents to educate our children.
