I write this letter with a heavy heart, deeply saddened and alarmed by the decision made under the leadership of President Frank Weller to allow a known sex offender to work in proximity to students at Great Lakes Christian College. This breach of trust and failure to uphold the moral and spiritual responsibilities of Christian leadership cannot be ignored or minimized.
As followers of Christ, we are called to protect the vulnerable. Jesus Himself said in no uncertain terms, “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea” (Matthew 18:6). This is not merely a metaphor—it is a call to radical accountability, especially for those in positions of authority.
While grace and forgiveness are core tenets of our faith, they do not negate the necessity of wisdom and accountability. Proverbs 27:12 reminds us, “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.” Hiring someone with a criminal record of this nature to work in an environment with young people, without transparency or adequate boundaries, is a grievous error in judgment.
We are also taught in James 3:1 that “Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.” Leadership in a Christian college is a sacred trust, and any action that puts students at spiritual, emotional, or physical risk violates that trust.
It is with prayerful conviction and sorrow that I respectfully request the resignation of President Frank Weller. This action is not taken lightly, but it is necessary to begin the process of restoration, healing, and re-establishing the integrity of Great Lakes Christian College. Students, families, and the wider Christian community deserve leadership that protects them, informs them, and acts with godly discernment and transparency.
I urge the Board to act swiftly and prayerfully. As Galatians 6:1 says, “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.” Restoration can begin—but not without truth, accountability, and change.
May the Lord guide your decisions with justice, mercy, and clarity.
As a mother of a college student, this is absolutely aprehensable Frank is allowed to continue to gaslight students and staff after hiring a known registered sex offender.
A change in the system is essential to helping children like Gabriel who are in desperate need of help. Children dependent on us to thrive. No child should have to suffer in the hands of caregivers.
As someone who had to be rehomed to another family member I am grateful for my county. I am in complete disbelief in the way the system failed this sweet boy and many others. He would’ve been 20 this year. Happy late 20th heavenly birthday, sweet Gabriel.
This is for Gabriel, and every other child that has or is currently enduring the same abuse that could potentially permanently damage their lives. I’ve been in their shoes, justice for those who’s voices couldn’t reach us :(💗💗
I had an experience with Lisa Berry and she was a cps worker we met in a case. She was not pleasant, she was not for the family and I sensed a lot of tension from her whenever we met. I asked to have her switched because over stepped and they did nothing. I wish someone would have done something so yes I'll sign because I know the feeling and my family is still dealing with the mess she left behind.
Jeffrey Epstein's case which went WORLD wide has been massively suppressed right down to the details of his death. As a Christian and Woman who has been aware of Child trafficking and Pedophiles for many years and I have friends who were sexually abused as children I would like for Pam Bondi and even the FBI to figure out who and how Jeffrey Epstein was able to HIDE a World Wide Pedophile ring. ASAP. Thank you for the work you have done.
I was sex trafficked by Epstein beginning at age 5. I filed a criminal and civil suit but never got any justice because my story did not match their narrative that they wanted people to believe.
I hope signing and sharing counts! This is sick and twisted, being a victim of sex abuse I feel for all the victims, they need to know they aren't alone!! They do have champions!!
