Our taxes have not changed, however, many students are walking to school and being rezoned to schools that are not up to par. I moved to this area because of the certain schools. If my kid can't get a good education, bus service, etc.. why am I required to pay taxes for a system, I don't support or that's not good for my family situation? I'm considering private school.
It’s safer for students to be transported by bus. Taking buses away has affected so many working families and a student who’s bus transportation was taken away got hit by a car about two months ago.
As many has stated before…buses are urgently needed since not all parents are allowed to go into work late or leave early to pick up their kids. There are major street intersections most of these kids have to cross to get to school. For example, I have seen with my own eyes many cars flying thru west rd and passing the red light, and scary that kids have to cross here. Also with these crazy rainy and cold weather since parents cannot always call into work saying they are running late. Please bring back the buses!
I have an upcoming kindergarten student that will start next fall. I can get him to school on the morning. My desperation as a single parent. Is getting him on a school Bus in the afternoons for him to be transported home to his older siblings. My work shift runs past after-school care hours. My income doesn't support hiring additional support to transport him home.
Thank you
God forbid something happens to a kid due to CFISD's lack of budget control. Every school is minutes away from a highway. A child can get hurt or even kidnapped. Safety should be #1. Bring back transportation.
As a student myself I say it is important for everyone to have access to a steady transportation not everyone if fortunate to have a ride to school. Some students have to get up earlier to walk to school and make it on time no matter how the weather is outside. Some places don’t have sidewalks and it’s harder/ more dangerous to walk in those places.
Students have died because of the CFISD bus services being taken away, at least one of them being in elementary school. If you look at an article on Click2Houston called, "At least 3 Cy-Fair ISD students hit by cars within the same week", the top comment, by "Deliah" says, "Apparently not the brightest students around. Just saying." This unsympathetic mentality, that I've witnessed from many of the adults of CFISD that I've grown up around, is exactly what the people in charge want. Blame the kids. Blame the parents. Blame everyone except for the district. Why blame the district when you can blame the victims? Truly disgusting and evil. I was a student at Cy-Fair High school back in the 2010s. The district had already made a lot of questionable choices and underfunding issues while I was there and after I graduated, but this is the last straw. This school district cares more about appearing to be the "best" district by buying unnecessary and seemingly "more expensive" things like new and nicer signs for their schools than they do about the well-being of the children attending the schools. The board members are disgraceful. Shame on them. They knew that the majority of the children living in CFISD don't live in areas that are safe for them to walk to school. They knew that most students in CFISD don't have the luxury of living within walking distance from the school they are zoned to. They knew that the majority of parents in CFISD do not have the time to drop their kids at school or pick them up. They knew that for the parents who do have the time, having more parents drop/pick up their kids would cause more traffic, more danger for kids walking home, and more kids to be late for classes or late to get picked up. They knew all of this, but they don't care. They just need to pretend the multiple children and teens who got run over by cars while crossing highways, stroads with no crosswalks, etc. (since they had no other option) just "were irresponsible" and "don't know how to walk home safely", like "Deliah" from the comments section of that article I just talked about.
These kids need their buses back because it’s too cold for them to walking to school. Not to mention some of them are sitting outside the schools until 7:15 in the cold and rain waiting on the school to open up. How is this safe for the kids not to mention them getting pneumonia
