Car insurance keeps going up every year making it challenging for normal people to afford, especially when the car is so necessary in daily life forcing everyone to buy cheap cars how can we commit to the EV transition when the cheapest car costs more just to insure
Just had a renewal of £500 increase from last year. This is an absurd amount for someone who hasn't had a claim or new car last year. All details the same. How can you justify a £500 increase in one year. I am refusing to buy it as putting food on table is important for my kids.
They also need to change the practice around no fault claims so that when someone has a no fault claim it doesn't affect their future premiums and also if there is no named other driver who was at fault, it shouldn't default to a fault claim!
Having just been the victim of a hit and run no fault collision with a driver who isn't traceable as they didn't own the car, and there is no insurance to claim from, I'm now faced with a 50% increase at least in my future insurance premiums.
This is on top of the inconvenience of having an accident, experiencing shock, minor injuries including whiplash, hours spent in A&E, days spent sorting out the insurance and all the other admin, time off work and now being car less plus I've the future of joy and hassle to look forward to of having to find another car again (I'd only had mine 3 months!).
All of this is due to both the carelessness and illegal driving of another road user. Thanks to them I am also now going to be out of pocket, and none of it has been my fault! The only saving grace is my injuries aren't too serious.
It's both unfair and unacceptable and needs to change!
i’m 16 about to turn 17, and the price of insuring your first car is a joke. The price of insurance excludes many young people of experiencing driving especially for the less fortunate people that can’t work at the young age or don’t have parents that can pay for the insurance. how can the government want us to be at school as well as work part time just for all of the money to go towards the insurance of the car.
I turned 60 last year and the insurance companies I’ve dealt with over my 45ish years of driving motorbikes and cars, and I’ve had many of both, has been gradually getting worse and worse, every year now my renewal quotes, percentage wise, has got higher and higher. Luckily I already know how they work and spend a hour or two a day leading up to renewal date to get many different quotes from comparison sites and other insurance companies not on the sites to get the best possible quote. Their pricing algorithm seems to have no sensible structure. It only seems to screw as much out the customer as they possibly can without actually braking any laws. Legal yes, but ethical no. In my opinion I think it’s legal theft.
