Life is already hard for those living on a fixed income. Please keep Barrington news affordable for those who need it the most. My dad lives there and is having an extremely hard time finding somewhere else to live that’s affordable.
I have been a long time resident of Barrington Mews since August 2009. This is my home! I've been here 15 years and like other residents, I hope to stay here. I am 67 years old and I am disabled due to Cerebral Palsy. Living at Barrington Mews has been ideal for my living situation. I like the local area, my fellow residents who I've formed friendships with over the years and my apartment meets my needs on many levels. I am on a fixed income. I receive housing assistance towards my rent. I am not in a position to afford market rent rates. If this change were to take effect, it would more than likely cause me to become displaced. Barrington Mews was built to meet the full spectrum of the various needs that disabled individuals like myself and senior citizens have. This should remain the focus for this property!
We have to protect our Seniors and the disabled. We have to fight, fight, fight! If we don't have the voice...who will. It's unaffordable to live as it is and then you are going to kick the Seniors and disabled to the curb. Shame on this situation even happening in New Jersey!! I have friends who live here or couldn't get in because of this turnover in plans. Cooperate greed at the expense of our Seniors and disabled! Shame on however is involved in this most inhuman move. God is not pleased and neither am I. Praying for this to get resolved at the best interest if our Seniors and disabled.
We must protect NJ seniors! Many of these residents are lifelong Barrington residents, raised their families in Barrington and have moved here thinking this would be their forever home! We need the town of Barrington to stand behind its residents!
There are people here that have no money to move. And there disabled not to mention there support animals will be homeless also. This is heat 💔 breaking 🙏 all other senior housing are all long waiting list . There will many with no choice but to go to a Nursing home 😭.
Affordable housing is greatly needed in our communities for our seniors and disabled residents. These programs provide secure housing opportunities for individuals with a limited income source. Rescinding this much needed subsidy can potentially promote homelessness for our seniors and disabled society. I implore that this decision be withdrawn and the protection and welfare for our residents encourage a sincere accountability.
