I believe brockport highschool has the potential to be a great school. Though only if it weren't for the transparency of the school and it's understanding of students. This school means a lot to a lot to people, not just students but staff and teachers. But the funny thing is that the administration does not see us as students. As a high 89 average kid there is something here that really separates this school and that's background. Everyone is different here at brockport but a major difference is what people have gone through and have been labeled as. This is a major issue regarding the treatment the administration seems to see is fare. People who have gone through some hardships are not helped by anyone or even have a voice to talk to. They are put in the same category as everyone else alike, "failure" or "troublemaker". Why are they "troublemakers"? I don't know maybe if we dig into why someone is going through something or did something wrong maybe we could help and understand that person better but nope we only look at the surface of the person and slap them with suspension because that's all administration wants to do. I believe that Bobbie doesn't need to be fired. I believe she needs to apologize, accept her mistakes, and change for the better for the student body. The students at this school can do so much more but when the administration dosnt see them as students but just another dollar in taxes or data to brag about how well people are doing. We are people, we have feelings and passions and lives, we are not something to gamble with, especially when the gambler is a oblivious fool. I would love to see this school do great things, but we can't do that with this current system. Staff, teachers, even substitutes have questioned this system and said that it is dumb or stupid. Without the students what makes a school? The administration needs to step up and change not only dardano but most of administration. We are people so please treat us like we are.

I personally know I’m not the only parent that feels the high school is poorly managed. Kids are allowed to run a muck and the consequence is a couple days off? After Covid do you really think suspension does anything especially when kids have parents that won’t take accountability for their kids actions and discipline them at home. Suspension is a treat for the kids that won’t be going to college or cares what’s on their record. Administration in my opinion needs some hearty training on empathy, mental health, de-escalation, communication and the biggest one is how to set the proper example. These administrators preach respect but dish out disrespect to both parents and kids. Parents feel as if their hands are tied because transparency is obsolete now. I don’t wish for anyone to lose their job but I’m hoping this is an actual wake up call to the board of education and the superintendent that there’s extreme issues with this school. You hear of kids getting pulled by parents to either home school or be put in private school almost daily because of the bullying issues. The schools make the bully the victim and the victim the problem. Shameful.

Brockport school district needs to make a change, they punish people for little things, or even defending ourselves against people who bully us. We are only children and adults who are supposed to support and protect us use their power for nothing. You are not making a change you are ruining our lives. There’s been so much sexual assault going on during this school year itself and nothing has been done. You only care about the things you have to get out of your chair for. You need to do better.

I was a student of Dardono’s when she taught 11th grade English at Penn Yan Academy. I am aware that this petition is regarding her misdoings at Brockport, but I want to share my experiences with her in Penn Yan to show that she has an extensive pattern of problematic behavior, and has lasting negative effects on the lives of her students. Dardono chooses favorites. This is not hard to see. She likes popular kids, attractive, athletic kids, she flirts with the boys and gossips with the girls. For them, her classroom was a laid back space. I was a strange, badly dressed teen and for me, her class was a source of frustration and alienation. She would ignore and subtly pick on kids like me, neglect her role in our education, and allow bias to affect our grades. In Dardono’s class, I started to get some really bad grades, sometimes in the 50s and 60s. This is not normal for me. English has always been my strongest subject, with high 90s in every English class I have ever taken. I was frustrated by these grades, as I didn’t know what I was doing wrong. I was writing like I always had, and following her directions properly. During peer review in her class, I always received good feedback. When I asked her for feedback, she would skim through and tell me it was fine. I couldn’t understand these terrible grades. I discussed this with some classmates. We compared grades and read each other’s work. We found a troubling correlation: the students she liked got good grades, and the ones she disliked got bad grades, regardless of the actual quality of our work. I took the English regents exam that year, and scored a high 90. The regents exam is highly regulated, and is graded by a different teacher to reduce bias. It was a huge relief to get that grade back and see that a teacher who does not know me can recognize the merit of my work. At this point I knew that my bad grades in class were the result of her bias against me, and not a reflection of my skills. At the end of the school year, even with a high regents score, I scored a low 70 in Dardono’s class. This low score disqualified me from taking the college level English 101 my senior year. My school participated in the Gemini program, which is an opportunity for high school students to earn college credits at a huge tuition discount ($15 per class). Being disqualified from English 101 in high school forced me to take the class in college, which set me back two semesters and cost about a thousand dollars. It has been 5 years since I had the misfortune of being Dardono’s student, and my English grades have returned to their regular high 90s. It is clear that Dardono’s actions caused a chain reaction that followed me into college. She caused me to be left out of honor roll, affecting my options for colleges. I was forced to spend extra time on my English credits. I am left with excess student debt. Dardono has been nothing but a negative force on my education and finances. It is appalling to me that she now has a higher position of power at another school. After reading about the experiences of Brockport students and parents, it is clear to me that her problematic behavior has only gotten worse. It saddens me to see younger students continue to suffer from the actions of this woman. As a former student who has lived with the effects of Bobbie Dardono’s discriminatory behavior, I am in full support of firing her from Brockport High to prevent other students from the same issues I had.

As a student at Brockport, I truly feel as if the principals pick and choose who they target. They talk to us about our grades and how important it is to be in class but they pull us out of our classes to talk to us about not important things. It’s a lot of stress to stay in class when they pull us out we miss class.

I can imagine what it must be like to have a child that is bullied. The constant worry about what others may do to my child would haunt me daily. These families need help and support from school and community leaders to stop this behavior. All parents need to understand the importance of teaching their children to be kind of others. Something has to be done. If it takes legislation, then what are we waiting for?
