I care about this issue because racial profiling is harmful, and has a negative impact on the everyday lives of Indigenous peoples, and Black and other racialized communities.
I think this is an important issue because in The Peel community everybody deserves to be treated well and feel included and if the police start being racist justice wont be served to actual criminals and the community will become unsafe.
If concentration camp road is not an acceptable name for a road, neither is plantation road. Sites of gross and horrific inhumanity must not be banalized. This decision to leave the road name as is diminishes us all and makes the path towards creating a safe, fair, empathetic community for all of us that much harder. Thank you for reconsidering.
As a black member of the London community, I find it deeply important for the city of London to remove outdated vocabulary on street signs that refer to unpleasant past histories for all groups of racialized people.
Several City Councillors regard this issue as a matter of political correctness and one has even weaponized the term "woke" to make their argument against changing the street name. This is not the London I know we live in or want to live in. Let's take this street name down out of respect for those most affected by the legacy of enslavement and replace it with language that works for Londoners broadly.
I have been playing this game since the beginning of it's journey, 2017 on OW1. Skins only being given to the "money makers" has been a problem since before then. It's time to start actually having our voices be heard on this. WE WANT SKINS FOR MORE CHARACTERS. If it takes longer to produce, that's fine. Just tell us if it's happening or not
This is getting utterly ridiculous. Lucio and Sojourn are almost always top picks and yet they get nothing? Sojourn, who's the only black woman and on the cover of the game gets ignored in favor of their white or asian cutesy girl characters. It pains me to see as a black woman who enjoys buying cute skins because I'm never considered in Blizzard's eye. It's blatant colorism at this point and we need to do better.
Africville was an integral part of what is now HRM. The people were thrown off the land they weren’t allowed to own but they haven’t forgotten and neither should the rest of us. Give the children of Africville their dignity.
