I came across this issue through a friend of a friend. It is appalling that a symbol of hatred & division would be so honored!... I used to live in GA near the AL state-line & would visit friends there during the flag debates. (GA ultimately changed their flag to acknowledge the inherent racism of its history.) I experienced harassment driving through simply because I had different license plates so I can't imagine what would have happened if I had a different skin-tone! ~ Though I'm not from the area, I travel often & knowing this makes me want to avoid the area at all costs and thereby prohibit any economic contributions from tourism to the area. Such displays of antithetical values (to serve & protect "only certain people") make people much less likely to trust or cooperate with law enforcement personnel.
I can’t imagine what you’re going through right now! As the fiance of a black man this scares me beyond belief! We have to make sure we stick together as a community and make sure people’s voices ate heard!
"Ignorance leads to fear, fear leads to hatred, and hatred leads to violence!" I am so tired of seeing innocent black men lose their life because of someone else's ignorance. Was he not allowed to enjoy life and ride down his street.. ? Was he not allowed to come home to his family after getting some air. This isn't just sad, its frustrating!
Ja’Keem was a human being. His life held immense value to his family, his children, his loved ones, and his community. Yet, the person who took his life saw none of that. Instead, he made a deliberate choice—armed with hate and a weapon—to take Ja’Keem’s life over an ATV.
Ja’Keem was not a threat. He was not causing harm. He was simply enjoying a moment to himself when his life was stolen in an act of pure hate. This is not just a tragedy—it is an injustice.
This is VERY tragic! For a man to lose his life not even seeing it coming is cowardly and sickening. All because of the color of his skin. This was indeed a hate crime! That man needs to be charged as such. Please know that there are 5 kids without a father/father figure because of this. Jakeem didn’t commit no crime. No conversation was had he was targeted!
