My daughter had autistic burnout at school and is not able to return to school. School teacher's were not enough trained to see changes in her behaviour and marked her as a naughty child causing trauma and fear to attend the school. Schools should be more aware about autistic burnouts and that children are very well masking with autism.
Both my diagnosed children suffer with burnout and it's often so well masked at school that we are told they are smiling, fine, turning up etc, so the issues aren't seen and dismissed. It's real, the sleepless nights, the panic attacks, the not eating, the hitting themselves in the head with their fists born of pure frustration and build up. It's relentless, daily, nightly and exhausting for all involved. Small changes can make a massive difference.
