City Methodist Church has significant historical value to the City of Gary. The Church's roots are intertwined with those of the City itself, as Judge Gary donated the land that the church was built on and the organ which would be installed in the Church. For nearly one hundred years, CMC has been an iconic part of Gary's skyline, and must be preserved. Even if it cannot be a fully functional church again, it would be of great importance to the City of Gary for the building to be preserved in some way, whether that be a ruins garden, a community center, etc., that way City Church can function in the way that it was originally intended to, as a place for the community to gather. If the City decides to level City Church, future generations would have no idea of the impact of the congregation on the great City of Gary, Indiana.
Soli Deo Gloria
There was once a time, where people built this beautiful place, it’s a church, a home to spirits. It should stay up because it was love that finished that building—greed or hate comes out from destroying it. Say you had a home to leave, you can’t let it go because all the memories in it. It’s abandoned others say but it’s still home to you, so don’t demolish it.
As we progress through society we are replacing beautiful efforts of expression with under stimulating works. The Doors and especially Jim Morrison are people who have helped me wonders and I want to keep such a remarkable building here with us
So many wonderful & important buildings have been
lost over the past decades. Please don't let the Morrison be one more piece of L.A.'s past that gets thrown away.
L.A. has very little preserved "history." Everything is bulldozed to make a condo building or carpark. Please save this important piece of L.A. history AND music history!
This building is part of rock 'n' roll History! It is such an iconic building that tourists come to Los Angeles to see it. I came to LA years ago just to see this hotel. There are many other homes and such of famous musicians that are saved from demolition all the time... please save this building! Don't demolish it, you would be demolishing rock 'n' roll History!
This place is legendary in The Doors history and being the greatest band to ever come out of Los Angeles, the Morrison Hotel should be saved. The Doors are synonymous with Los Angeles and the famous photograph of the band, by Henry Diltz, inside the hotel's lobby is known worldwide. Save a piece of LA history and Rock 'n Roll history.
There are so many creative possibilities for this building and site that would honor the history and culture of Denver while keeping this absolute treasure. (Picture turning the smokestack to an outdoor rock climbing tower.) Once it's gone, it's gone forever.
