I am thankful for Larue County clinic staying open for an extra 2 hours to help with my old Labrador pass on painlessly. A 24 hr clinic in Elizabethtown makes sense. It would certainly be busy, just hard to get investors and professional commitments.
All the vets in the area used to take turns being on call why can't we go back to that? It isn't right to ask people to drive to Louisville when we spend thousands of dollars at our vet clinic during the course of a year.
Not only for the welfare of animals, but the safety of people sharing the road with a scared and distracted parent that's speeding trying to get to a hospital that's open.
RIP sweet kitty!! I hope your passing will help all of the furry kiddos that end up in trouble after hours.
E-town Animal Hospital shame on you! What happened to your code of ethics? Or do they have hours also?
I am so sorry Chewie did not survive the trip. I agree that there must be emerg3ncy services but how to fund them and where to find vets could be a problem, more that latter I think. It would have been nice if this vet who was 5 minutes away had taken the time to understand the gravity of the situation and stayed open a bit longer. I hope there is success in this. Like humans, our nonhuman companions do not get sick or injured only during office hours.
