In 2023 my dog passed away from an unknown reason, that may have been treatable if we’d had the money to take him to the vet. I don’t wanna see any other pets suffer as much as he had to just because of money issues
I cant imagine the cost for those with dogs. I have 2 cats. My American wire hair is prone to allergies! I can barely afford the flea meds let alone the monthly shot for her allergies. I barely could afford to get her treated when she got attacked by dogs. Both my girls are overdue for a vet visit but I cannot fork over 600 bucks right now. Biden economy bled me dry of any extra income to barely feed myself and take myself to a doctor let alone vet visits. I love my cats I can’t imagine a world without my spunky little friends greeting me when I wake up. When I come home from work. And I would love to take in and help many stray little friends. I want nothing more than to be a voice and support for the ones that cannot speak.
My cat Marley died when I was five. He died because of a sickness. We had to put him down and I'm so glad we were able to afford that to end his suffering. I hope that this petition will let other families be able to do the same.
Back in July I had to say goodbye to my almost thirteen year old cat.
It cost almost $200 for the vet to do a brief exam to confirm that she was really sick (feeling her organs) confirm that she was that she was possibly terminally ill (possibly cancer) and any efforts to keep her alive were going to be futile, shave a patch of skin, give her a sedative before administering the lethal dose.
While I am so grateful that I had the funds to prevent her from suffering another day and continue to slowly decline and die a horrible death.
I did wait with a previous cat because I was worried about expenses, I have a family member with a senior cat who just can’t afford the $200 to end the suffering of their current cat despite her obvious suffering.
Even if they reduced the price of euthanasia, it would mean that people aren’t feeling like they have to let their beloved pet suffer because they can’t financially afford to end their suffering in a humane manner.
As a pet owner myself and I am on a fixed income. When I had my dog fixed just so I could live in public housing. It cost me over $200. I think there should be some kind of something for when low income pet owners could afford their pets health. Because our pets is just like our own kids. I mean I love my dog just as much as I do my own kids. So yes please we all need this very much in all states.
