I'm a 56 year old disabled woman with a college degree, certifications and many years of professional work experience. I have been unemployed and looking for a job for almost 4 years. I have submitted 1000s of applications, only to jobs where I meet at least 90% of the requirements, but can't remember the last time I was even asked to interview. Something is very very broken in our hiring processes here in America.
I’m used to getting a job in a day, but now I’m at the US average because the use of AI is amplifying and perpetuating unique factors in this job market to make it much more difficult to get a job. Because recruiters used AI to manage applicants to remote jobs, applicants are using AI to automatically apply to the same jobs and recruiters are being laid off due to increasing healthcare and legal costs, adding further overwhelm. The need to adjust each resume to every posting means it can take at least an hour to apply to one job, and the only resumes that get through to the hiring manager are those with a 95% match, making it very difficult to change careers. The time needed to alter every resume to every job posting reduces the likelihood of being able to play the numbers game and burns out the applicant, both of which reduces the likelihood of getting a job. This is not just affecting the IT industry , but is even trickling down to part-time jobs for which I’m overqualified.
My name is moinul hussain when I was younger I applied to become an police officer but due to not having an associate degree I couldn’t get in but I worked hard got my degree and then got responsibilities for family started working and provided for my family and paid my college tuition now I’m stable and wanted to continue my dream of becoming an police officer I have all the necessary skills and qualifications but due to this age restrictions I’m not able to get in. With all do respect I would like to get an opportunity to do what I wanted to do all my life and getting an opportunity to prove myself will make me feel like I have achieved my dream so my humble request to the department to waive the age requirement and allow people like me to achieve my dream.
Respectfully
