Missourians passed amendment 3 because they believe women and families should be able to make private decisions for their health and lives. We also don’t want to be a state where women wait bleeding in hospital parking lots or die because they were denied care like Texas and Georgia.
Banning abortions only bans safe abortions. This decision is not any easy one, but one that each woman, and the people in her life that care about her, deserve to make on their own. STOP trying to control women! Back-room abortions risk killing the mother. We need to preserve women’s health and safety.
It's heart-wrenching to hear and read abhorrent stories of women being denied necessary, life-saving care. The importance of reproductive rights are directly linked to reduced maternal mortality rates and improved overall health for women. Denying women these rights puts their lives at risk and is a clear violation of human rights. Whether it is a mother, sister, significant other, or friend in your life, every woman deserves the right to make decisions about her body freely and without interference from government. I care about women having their right to choose.
Under this new horrible regulation, not even the men in her life have the right to choose what happens to her body. Since when do we care more about government control than we care about an individual’s right to choose?
Reproductive rights are human rights. There is absolutely no reason for positions to worry about what a woman does with their body. Most abortions are done for medical and safety reasons for the mother and taking that away will cause there to be so much more maternal deaths that could have been so easily avoided with the access to proper care.
Abortion should be a right. The right to choose is crucial and because of the overturning of Roe v Wade, several people are unfortunately no longer here when they should be. Gender affirming care is also crucial because no one should govern anyone's body. Human rights include the right to choose!
Gender-Affirming Care literally saved my life. I was going nowhere in it and never felt like I had a place in this world until I came out and was able to start making the transition into the real me. All of this, including reproductive rights, is about bodily autonomy and that is a right which should be as inalienable as any of the liberties and rights we are granted in this country and state.
Women deserve to maintain the right to the autonomy of their own body. We cannot afford to treat women as second class citizens who aren't allowed to make important medical decisions for their own wellbeing. Access to these medical procedures is not only life altering, but life saving.
My daughter deserves the right to control her future as she sees fit. So do all women. Consent to sex is not consent to pregnancy. Removing that consent is the behavior of bullies and rapists.
You do not know how many women in your life has had to make difficult decisions regarding their health and their bodies. No one is willingly ending a 35-weeks-along pregnancy for the fun of it. Nobody has the right to deny any sort of healthcare to anyone. If people against abortions were REALLY "pro-life", we wouldn't have so many kids going hungry, aging out of foster care, and getting trafficked.
Oklahoma is one of the top states for teen pregnancy and taking away abortion options is not what the state should be concerned about. Focus on educating your people and actually providing security instead of trying to control women's bodies.
