Willum Warrain is such an incredible place for all - welcoming both mob and ally. A place to learn, connect and walk together. It is such a success for the Mornington Peninsula and therefore deserves to be celebrated and supported! Please restore funding to Willum Warrain to continue growing this important place, community and powerful impact!

It has become so less common, over the years, to have the opportunity to have such a unique and grounded aboriginal experience, like Willum Warrain on the Mornington Peninsula. It has made the Mornington Peninsula people so proud. At least continue the existing funding!

As a local educator, community member, and advocate for truth-telling, healing, and reconciliation, I am deeply concerned about the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council’s proposal to cut vital funding to Willum Warrain. Willum Warrain is not just a place it is a living, breathing centre of culture, connection, and community. It provides a safe and sacred space for local people to gather, heal, and thrive, while also offering powerful cultural education and awareness for the broader community. To threaten its existence is to undermine the spirit of reconciliation and our collective responsibility to uphold and honour the voices, histories, and futures of First Nations people. I stand with Willum Warrain. I sign this petition because I believe cultural survival and community wellbeing should never be up for debate. Please restore the funding and show genuine commitment to your Reconciliation Action Plan.

As an indigenous person who grew up in the area Willum provides a great space for mob to come together and feel connected and share stories. As a teacher around the area Willum Warrain provides a great opportunity for schools in the area to get educated on local and national indigenous history. Places like this should be getting as much support as possible and are valuable to supporting the social model of health.

The genocide and cultural eradication of First Nations people needs to end. There is no excuse for defunding First Nations services and frankly its shameful that a petition must go out and for this to be a point of contention within the community. Always was, always will be!

In these time when mental health issues seem to be prevalent amongst all ages, it is beyond belief that something that brings people together, keeps minds creative, provides joy & entertainment, promotes ambition for the young, is being cut back in funding. Mornington peninsula has a wonderful music scene, funding should not be altered!

First Nations people must have our support. They must be able to fund bringing their community together, educating the wider community and maintaining wellness amongst themselves. Cutting this funding is very cruel.

Like many of other First People’s organisations that operate on the Ninch - Willum Warrain do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to meaningful reconciliation, education, healing and providing culturally safe social services for mob. They all need to be properly funded so they can keep up the important work they do for our entire MP community.
