Saving the lives of wombats and other species is a matter of great importance, and it's heartbreaking to see them being injured or killed by vehicles in National Park. The fact that the sealed road has encouraged dangerous driving is unacceptable, and it's crucial that we take action to prevent this.
Effective traffic calming measures, such as speed humps and chicanes, can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and near-misses. These measures have been proven to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety in residential and commercial areas .By installing these measures, we can create a safer environment for the wildlife.
Increased compliance checks and police patrols, especially during peak holiday seasons, can also help deter reckless driving. It's essential that we support the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) in their efforts to protect the Australian wildlife and to ensure their safety .

Thankfully, it was a male kangaroo but both legs had been completely broken. It’s head was crushed and its tail had been degloved during the presumably heavy vehicle strike. I had to try and move this poor kangaroo further to the side of the road on a busy Saturday. There needs to be more done to alert motorists and protect the wildlife along this extremely busy road.
