School uniforms limit self-expression and can make kids feel out of control of who they are. I spent a long time finding myself and matching my outside to my inside. Uniforms would throw all this work away. You may argue that you can still express yourself on Fridays, but how I dress is a combination of me, my cultural identity, and practicality. Uniforms are none of these things. It would take away who I am as a person and make me insecure in myself.
Priya supported: Counter-Petition!!!The pro-uniform petition said that it would reduce visible economic inequality at SMA, but some people can't afford to buy uniforms, and SMA doesn't have a budget to provide enough for every HS student - it doesn't make sense. If people are under financial strain anyway, why make them buy extra clothes?

People should have their own personal style of what they would like to wear and having uniforms disables this choice. People love to plan their outfits, like me, and wearing uniforms drains the creativity out of people's personas. People love wearing sweatpants to school when they feel tired, and some who love having personal styles love to express themselves through clothing. As a person in the theatre department, I strongly believe in our own styles overall, and many people at this school are fashionistas. Back-to-school clothing shopping is now over after uniforms because why will we need those beautiful outfit pieces if we can't share them with the world? For me, back to school clothing shopping is therapeutic, and for other people, they hate being outfit repeaters. People need a place where they can tell their own stories through clothing, and if uniforms take over the high school, they will have nothing left. According to WebMD, parents are even saying how uniforms make a limited closet space, and people get bullied. Together lets fight this change
