We, the students and residents of Surrey, demand an immediate cease to the implementation of generative artificial intelligence in the Surrey Schools District curriculum, use as staff tools, and promotion of generative AI videos and pictures for rewards. The earth has a finite amount of fresh water, while AI consumes and pollutes millions of liters per day. We have a global water shortage but continue to waste water on AI instead of aid. AI also consumes 415,000,000,000,000 watt/hours per year. This could provide power for 38 million households a year. Lastly, pluralities of studies have all concluded with the same thing, AI does not help students. It makes them dependent on AI for everything, and creates psychological problems like sleep issues, and AI psychosis. We demand that Surrey Schools immediately ceases the promotion and implementation of AI in our schools, lives, and work.
