For more than three decades, the railway line between Akbarpur and Tanda (Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh) has remained without regular passenger train services — despite being fully operational and actively used for freight movement.

The last passenger service on this route was discontinued in 1993. Since then, thousands of residents, students, workers, senior citizens, and small business owners have been deprived of an affordable rail transport option.

The infrastructure is already ready:

✅ Electrified (OHE) track is functional

✅ Goods trains are actively running on this route

✅ Tanda is a major textile and industrial centre

✅ No major new investment is needed to start passenger service

Who suffers daily:

Students traveling for higher education, factory workers, daily commuters, patients visiting hospitals, and low-income families who cannot afford private transport.

Our Demands:

Restart at least one daily MEMU/DEMU passenger train on trial basis

Officially disclose the pending infrastructure status

Announce a clear, time-bound timeline for service restoration

Upgrade passenger facilities at Tanda Railway Station

Connectivity is not a luxury — it is a necessity.

We urge the Ministry of Railways and Northern Railway to restore what was taken from the people of Ambedkar Nagar 33 years ago.
