This petition is to show support and to prove there is a genuine interest for a concrete skatepark in Lake City, SC.

Skateparks are proven to increase health, well-being and community cohesion, while reducing social exclusion and anti-social behavior. The skatepark will enhance Lake City, be a community asset, and build upon the infusion of creativity recently embraced by the city. Akin to ArtFields, a Lake City skatepark will attract enthusiast from the region and beyond.

Lake City’s skatepark will be an admission-free, inclusive and family orientated facility for users of all ages. With interest in skateboarding continuing to grow, skateparks have become common features in cities across the US. That level of intrigue is set to sky-rocket this July, as skateboarding makes its Olympic debut at the 2021 games in Tokyo.

The newly formed, Push LC, composed of established skateboarders and community advocates, will lead the selection process of identifying a professional skatepark builder to ensure the park is safe and offers an environment for all levels of skateboarding. Upon completion, programming will be developed and introduced to grow the local skateboarding community via clinics, demos and potential contests.

Learning to pick yourself up to try again, develops a level of commitment and confidence that will help shape the future resolve of the Lake City community.
