Reverse the decision to kill-off the popular Green Lantern John Stewart
Reverse the decision to kill-off the popular Green Lantern John Stewart
The Issue
As both a retailer and as a fan of DC Comics, particular its Green Lantern mythos, it's distressing that a character like this is (apparently) slated to be killed-off. John Stewart is more than just another African-American character in a comic book, he is (besides Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman) one of the most new-reader friendly comic book characters out there thanks to his huge exposure on Cartoon Network's "Justice League" and "Justice League Unlimited" animated programs. And that's not to mention his being one of a seemingly-diminishing group of characters in the DC Comics pantheon of superheroes which showcase the diversity in society that we all know in our hearts to be true. To wrap-up, it is my opinion that killing-off the character of John Stewart would hurt us retailers in being able to provide the kind of diversity that our customers are looking for, as well as us Green Lantern fans suffering another blow to our favorite childhood characters.
