We are a group of students from Olympian High School, located in Chula Vista, California, working on a group project for our Common Senior Experience to raise awareness about refugees and the harsh living conditions they face on a daily basis. We are hoping that you would assist us in spreading that awareness by possibly speaking to the public. The history of this problem has been repeating itself. War and refugees have been a huge problem in the world. This problem is important to know about because it affects our government and the results after a war damage our economy. This problem occurs currently in the world today because our own country, America, is at war. America has disputes with the Middle East and it escalated to a war in both Iraq and Afghanistan. This is relevant to our topic because the current war we are facing has caused many families to leave their home country in seek of a better life. Refugees are escaping wars so that they can gain freedom rather than dealing with oppression. These wars have affected the lives of many by having the refugees make life or death decisions. They have to pick to either join the fight with their country or turn their back in search of freedom somewhere else.
