Ban the sale of ivory in China and crack down on it's illegal ivory trade.

Ban the sale of ivory in China and crack down on it's illegal ivory trade.
The Issue
The photo above is of Satao, believed to have been one of the worlds largest living elephants, who was murdered for his tusks in Kenya on May 30, 2014. Satao was about 45 years old. (see link below)
Last year, more than 20,000 elephants were massacred for their tusks in Africa and 4% of The Democratic Repubic of Congo's elephant population has been slaughtered for it's ivory in the last 8 weeks alone. 70% of all ivory ends up in China through it's legally licensed businesses and illegally through black market trading. We must urge the Chinese government to begin a mass public education campaign to educate it's people on the effects the demand for ivory is having on the world's elephant population. The ban of ivory sales and harsh crackdown on illegal traders would swiftly interrupt the demand and therefore the finanicial incentive to kill these beautiful and now endangered animals.
Please sign this petition and urge the Chinese government to put an end to this slaughter through education, illegalization and the imposition of harsh punishment on those found trading ivory.
