Our country’s children are our country’s future. They are our future neighbors, coworkers, friends and family. Their today is all of our tomorrows.

A government that protects the welfare of its citizenry does not play politics with the welfare of its children, either directly or through attacks on the family.

The parental bond between children and both of their parents is critical to their welfare and so it is critical to our country.

Separating a child from a loving parent causes that child irreparable harm. Politics played on the damaged lives of children harms all our futures. It is barbaric, inhumane and we as a nation are better than that.

In the few minutes you are taking to read this at least one child has been harmed by federal removal of a beloved parent. Every day of delay in righting this wrong means more of our most vulnerable and most important citizens are having their lives irreparably damaged.

Look at your own children. Would they continue to thrive if they were to loose you?

No one knows when Congress will act to protect the welfare of our children. Our youngest citizens can not wait while their country debates whether they deserve protection. They are children now. Their need is now.

Mr President, if you would represent this nation represent its values. We protect children in this country. We honor the sanctity of the family that nurtures them in this country. Stand up to those who would gain political power by handicapping families and children. Use your executive authority to protect the most vulnerable of our citizens.
