ND Legislators: Pass Addison's Law, ensuring all infants are checked on every 15 min.
The Issue
My daughter, Addison, passed away on her third day of daycare. Addison was 6 months old. She was laid down for a nap while she was awake and was not checked on for 45 min. There was no monitor in the room. By the time she was finally checked on, it was discovered that she had passed away. It is my goal to ensure Addison's legacy lives on by getting Addison's Law passed.
Every 15 minutes,
A- All
D- Daycare providers
D- Do visual
I- Infant
S- Screening
O- Observations at
N- Naptime
The current rule for daycare providers states:
“The provider shall check on sleeping infants regularly or have a monitor in the room with the sleeping infant.”
I want to define "regularly" as 15 minutes and change the rule to:
“The provider shall check on sleeping infants every 15 minutes and have a monitor in the room with the sleeping infant.”
I sincerely appreciate all of your support.
