Vote affirmative on pending legislation to ensure funding for homeless.

Vote affirmative on pending legislation to ensure funding for homeless.
The Issue
Petition to Reallocate Funds for the Improvised in Illinois
As you know, the number of homeless families and people consumed in poverty in the United States is growing at an exponential rate. At any given night in this country, anywhere from 700,000 to 2 million people are homeless. Although when we envision a homeless person we see someone out on the streets, but what we don’t realize is it could also mean someone who makes less than 500 dollars a month and struggles to feed and clothe themselves or any dependents. The issue is the funds that were once allocated for shelters, food pantries, and education programs in support of homeless people are nearly depleted. We need to make a change.
We are urging the state senate to take a stand for homelessness. Illinois is currently in a state deficit, yet millions of dollars are being spent for renovations in Springfield. We have to be advocates for our own community by urging the Illinois senate to review the state commodities budget and to take out any unnecessary expenses so the people in our community will have somewhere to turn in their time of crisis.
In an effort to spread awareness to the problem of chronic homelessness in our country and to solicit legislative support for funding in our community, we the undersigned do hereby request the support of Arthur Wilhelmi to vote affirmative on pending legislation which ensures additional funding to provide needed services for the homeless.
